The Sacred Well is a fable set in modern day Sardinia. A metaphor of everyday life which emphasizes the importance of having faith in others.
Shy and stuttering 12 year-old Andrew encounters the population of gnomes who live inside the ancient stone structures called Nuraghe which are dotted here and there all over the island.
Under the guidance of their supreme mother, who they call Jana Suprema, the gnomes have the duty of protecting the secrets and treasures which can be found hidden inside each Nuraghe.
On the eleventh moon of each year they set off on a quest to find the chosen sacred water which will restore their magical powers, without this water they will be overpowered and killed by their age-old enemies called the Red Spirits. This year they realize that they cannot manage on their own and ask Andrew for help.
The quest to reach the sacred water is enlivened by numerous encounters: Efisio, head of the mischievous and rebellious Movers, Fleabag who believes that animal pooh can cure just about anything and the wicked Red Spirits who will do anything to stop them.
